Animalia

Facts about Kingdom Animalia:
  • This group is also known as the Metazoa Kingdom
  • heterotrophs who depend on other organisms for their food directly or indirectly
  • majority of organisms in this group are motile
  • about 800,000 species are identified
Sub-groups:
All of these animals are organized into sub-groups such as fish, mammals, birds, and reptiles. They total to about 36 phyla within the animal kingdom.

Kingdom Animalia Cells:
This group of organisms are all multicellular eukaryotes. There are absolutely no prokaryotes in the group animalia.

Reproduction:
The majority of animals reproduce sexually by female eggs and male sperm.

Cell Structure:
Some organelles that the animals contain are:

  • centrioles
    • nucleus
    • mitochondria
    • golgi bodies
    • ribosomes
    • endoplasmic reticulum
